Super Heros have been all the rage for the past few decades.
But what are they?
Characters that overcome their enemies using their super abilities.
Who do they fight?
Bad guys. The bad guys have superpowers but they’re still bad.
Have we seen this type of idolization before?
I wonder if today’s superheroes aren’t just repackaged/rebranded/reimagined mythical beings just like Norse gods before the Christianization of Scandinavia. Or gods like Baal in the bible.
What should we think of them?
We should look at them for entertain purposes only. But with a perspective that they are meaningless.
Do bad guys exist in the real world?
No. People do bad things. But they can do good things too. No person is pure evil or good. We are not the final judge.
Is there a problem?
With most things they need to be looked in moderation. Kids might grow up idolizing these figures. That’s a huge problem. They arent real. Furthermore, they pit the “good guy” vs “the bad guy”. In real life there aren’t “good guys” and “bad guys”. There’s people who act good and bad in certain situations, some more than others. But everyone thinks they are the good guy. A bigger problem is kids turn into adults. Some of them have grown up believing in these stories and now they believe they are the “good guy fighting the bad guy”. What is actually good and bad doesn’t matter to them. Just that they win since they view themselves as the good guy. In reality it’s good ideas vs bad ideas. Right vs wrong. That can be debated but self-righteous people will steamroll anything they disagree with.
Who is the real superhero?
God and his son Jesus.
Jesus is the prototype. He’s who we should look to for how we should act and live our life’s
Superheroes a man-made creation. They are inherently flawed.
The true God is apparent. His story has been told for as long as we know. We have the book to tell it. He and his story and his book have stood the test of time. It’s worth reading again and again. There’s time for entertainment but there’s also time for reading the true breathed word of the true superhero.
