Hey there,
How you been?
Not much has happened since I last posted….(that’s supposed to be sarcastic). Many would argue it’s biblical times right now. But for now I’ll stick to sports… and specifically Basketball.
Biggest news?
The Golden State Warriors won their 4th Championship (chip?) in the last 8 years.
Definitely a shock to masses and main stream narratives going around since their last trip to the finals.
If you’ve been paying attention only a few (Shout out to Stephen A. – although he did waver) saw the Warriors winning.
But lets get to the main point of this post.
Reality?? What is it? Those in the media are in the media for a reason. They can’t get jobs doing the real thing. (Looking back at some old posts titles I feel I’ve made this point before – It’s been a while so I’m rusty). For a hockey reference just look at how long Pierre McGuire lasted with the Ottawa Senators.
What spurred this post was watching this video
Grades!
Sports is meant for entertainment. If the guys in the media were great at making picks and predictions their value would be higher in on the of teams front offices. This isn’t meant to take away from what they do. But we should put what they say into perspective. Some careers have been ruined (cough cough Anthony Bennett) by whats been put in the media. Teams aren’t going to take a chance on a player who has already been roasted in the media. Obviously the player is partially responsible for what happens to their career but we shouldn’t kid ourselves and act like player personal decisions aren’t affected by the media.
I feel I could go on about the medias affect on things but I’ll note this one interesting fact that I intend to expound on later. One of the things that has made Lebron James great is his understanding of the media. I’d easily argue he is the all-time greatest player in not only understanding the media but also controlling it. Not that he has full control but he actively affects it. A simple example of this is Nick Wright (all time champ of worst takes of all-time on Andrew Wiggins) is a client of Lebron James’ Klutch sports.
Maybe a little off track now but TLDR; Media isn’t reality, media is a microcosm, it can and is distorted by those with influence.
What should we take from that? Media is largely entertainment and shouldn’t been depended upon. What’s worse? Some people take it as gospel.
What should be taken as gospel?? Ummmmmmmmmmm. Maybe the……
GOSPEL
The unchanging, veracity and reality of the word of GOD!
