Sheep and the Bible

We just looked at Goats and Sports.

As mentioned, goats off at times seen as unfavorable in the bible.

Matthew 25:31-33 separates goats from sheep and are seen as faithful followers of Jesus and God.

Sheep in modern conversation has a negative connotation while goats in sport are seen as the Greatest Of All Time.

How to reconcile this? I’d say being a sheep can be either. But it depends on whom you are following. Following God? good. Following something else? Not a good idea. This world is flawed. It’s imperfect. It’s incomplete. Being a sheep to anything of this world will lead you astray. It’s better to follow something perfect. That’s God.

People that don’t want to be a sheep to God? It’s likely they are sheep to something else even if they don’t see it. A celebrity, a politician, a movement, science, a government or possibly themselves. Again, being a sheep to anything of this world will lead one down a bad path.
