I have a tag called “goatpost”
If you don’t know if sports reference a Goat means the Greatest Of All Time.
Listening to Gary Hamrick speaking on Revelation 21 I took notice of how they speak of Goats in the bible. It’s not favorable.
Let’s take a quick step back.
Who is the real GOAT? My obvious answer is God. But maybe that’s a little simplistic. God is time. Is God great? sure. But God is beyond and concept of great. God created greatness.
The Goat concept is a little too simplistic of a representation of God. GOATs are typically bound by some time period. God isn’t.
Taking a look at life we see people worship a lot of different things. This blog is a good example. Its original intention was the ‘worship’ or sport. People worship sport, sports figures, celebrities, certain activities, media, themselves. They post images, following certain ‘experts’ in the topic they worship, have certain mantras, devote time, pay money and attention, defend the subject of their worship. They create religions out of their interests. Sometimes they’ll even mock believers of particular systems of faith and it seems most often that system is Christianity.
Where Iam going with all this?
I’m now thinking GOAT worship is blasphemy towards God. The Goats in sports are great players. But real worship should be placed appropriately and that is towards God.
It’s hard to know how much time should be spent on our interests but in a lot of places not enough time is spent worshipping the creator of everything.
