NBA talent and Opportunity

The NBA is obviously the highest professional league in the world.

Recently Tyler Hero has said he is on the level with Luka Dončić, Ja Morant and Tre Young.

His teammate and NBA veteran Udonis Haslem supported that belief saying if he was on the right team Hero would be in a situation to be “the guy”.

Right or wrong about Hero there is a point to be made. The NBA being the best league in the world has limited opportunities. You can’t always be “the guy”. Some players get that chance. Some players are on better teams and don’t get it right away. In the end no single player makes a team. Every single team that wins a championship has players that are All-Star level talent.

Some players have that talent. Some don’t.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has that talent. Watching him you see it. He can run a team. He can create his won shot, he can hit tough shots, he gets guys open, he answers the call wen needed. The Oklahoma City Thunder might not be where it needs to be to compete in the West but Shai is an elite NBA talent. But to be successful, especially now in the NBA you need 3-4 starters at that level with a solid bench to support it.

The best GMs will see the talent and be able to combine skillsets, egos and contracts to produce championship teams.

My bet is on the Raptors, Warriors and a dark horse team the Thunder as the best bets to produce championships level players and teams in the near future with who they give players with NBA talent opportunities.
